Mamdani's Collective Bargaining Between Landlords & Tenants, Is Cowardice.

Mamdani is a coward. He should be implementing sane rental rates by returning rent control that was systematically removed across America, creating a rental and mortgage market with no ceiling.

Here’s what’s wrong with Mamdani’s landlord/tenant collective bargaining scheme. It will create thousands of equal protection under the law cases. When one building wins a lower rental rate but the building across the street of exactly the same quality does not, that’s an equal protection under the law case. This has already been mauled over, for the last 150 years and the solution from residential rental and mortgage inflation, was to simply institute rent control. What Mamdani is doing, is surrendering the power of imposing rent control on a criminal class of politicians, landlords and bankers that have stolen America's savings and disposable income that could be holding up a very strong economy in America. Granted, rent control has been regulated at the state level in the past but the city of New York could easily push in its own rent control policy. It would be challenged in court but inevitably would succeed as a result of public popularity and the basic practicality of it. In 1994 I fought against the State of Massachusetts doing away with rent control and of course everything bad that we predicted would happen, did. Seniors had to leave Boston, Cambridge, Alston and so on, so landlords could exploit students coming from all across America and around the world, to go to Harvard, Tufts, Northeastern and Boston University.

This is the difference between the campus commie and the working class commie. Mandami is a campus commie who has never been confronted with working class terrors. Mamdani sounds like he did well in his debating club at University but for those of us who have put our lives on the line for the union cause, Mandami sounds like every wide-eyed college graduate whose dreams will be slowly knocked down by the ruling elite. And in fact, I believe Mandami was a well-planned fallback position for the wealthy elite in the United States where a new social contract might be born. Allowing the wealthy elite to keep most of their ill-gotten gains but the fact that the wealthy elite are putting campus commies between them and the working people of America shows me that we are going to get watered down crap like Mamdani’s collective bargaining for tenants, which can only lead to endless lawsuits costing both sides millions in legal fees and settlements.

The most successful socialist revolutions came from the working class unions and working class soldiers. Campus commies will not get what the working class of America need and want and Mandami is showing it. By setting working class people against landlords in collective bargaining over their rent, steals time the working class don't have in order to manage their rent. The mayor of New York is attempting to push the responsibility of regulating the rental market on to collective bargaining, a scheme that completely abdicates the power of the mayor's office. What Mamdani should have done is give New Yorkers a history lesson of how rent control came about and why. There are no real world reasons why the rent was raised. There have been no real world costs that justify the radical inflation in residential rental properties. So why the inflation? Greed and of course the inability for the wealthy elite to take serious losses and even become working class again. That's what inflation really represents, a group of people who couldn't manage their way out of a wet paper bag piling their losses on the public through inflation. People who are market losers but refuse to admit their losses and then download them on the tenants in the form of higher rents and schemes to profit off those higher rents. There is no justification for the rents that are paid today in the US but putting the public to the task of having to organize a tenants Union, demand collective bargaining from the landlord and to slog through endless nights of negotiating, is theft of labor and Mandami knows it. This is exactly what the Taft-Hartley bill did to organize labor. It raised the cost of organizing and set unions in a path that would lead to unions shrinking, over a period of decades. Which is exactly what happened. America has 10% Union participation in the labor market today. Down from 31% in 1960. So how long will it take for the tenants union to finally fizzle as a result of the exhaustion of tenants unions fighting landlord’s lawyers?

Someone needs to explain to this amateur of municipal policy, the newly elected Mayor of New York, that there is history to look back on in terms of the success of rent control and how it balanced access to society for everyone. I had many friends in rent control apartments in New York and in Boston and I lived briefly in a rent control apartment in Cambridge. Landlords will drag the process of negotiating out, by using attorneys to sandbag the process, forcing the whole process into court hearings. Clearly, Mamdani and his gaggle of campus commies have not figured out all the ins and outs of the liability they are creating for the City of New York. Eventually, both landlords and tenants will sue the city of New York for millions that collective bargaining for your rent will cause both sides to suffer.

Only a wealthy elite could have come up with the policy of collective bargaining for tenants and this is why I believe Mamdani is a put up job by New York's ruling elites, America's ruling elites. Yes, the ruling elites will agree to paying higher taxes but will they allow rent control to come back in and ruin their, fill my wallet with inflationary produced dollars when I lose in the market? I don't think so. If this is what is to be considered democratic socialism then democratic socialism has lost my vote. I trust union based socialist organizations and I will never trust campus commies as they always betray the working class for the social class the campus commies were conditioned to, while climbing the ladder of higher education. If your political revolution is not working class based, led by working class leaders you are likely going to get campus commies who are more often than not in league with the ruling elites in your community. Every time I run into a campus commie, with their tables on commercial drive in Vancouver, I ask them, “Are you a member of a union?” and of course they are not. They read a little bit of Marx while at University and they think they understand Marxism. Campus commies think they can run right to the head of the class and lead a working class revolution of workers who are members of unions or wish to organize when they have almost no understanding of how to organize a labor union. I have put my own life on the line in salting actions for my union, the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. Mamdani is someone I can’t follow because he has no serious Union background.

Rent control is the only legislation passed in the last thousand years that can actually effectively control rental inflation. If the property only generates a certain amount of income from rental tenants, then that property is only worth so much. If there is no rent control, the sky is the limit to what one can charge and as long as all landlords seek the sky together and in harmony, almost no one can stop it, except rent control. I was waiting for Mamdani to expose himself as the campus commie he is, and he has finally done it by showing his incredible ignorance of municipal, state and federal policy concerning rent control. Property is only worth something if it's generating income and it's value as land and whatever is built on the land that generates the income, is valued this way but the speculators and bankers chose to value land based on how much land would be worth if a high-rise was built on it. Most people see that kind of money and they sell right away, not realizing that they can't buy back in, in the same market, because the price just went up again. To do this there had to be a systematic and criminal enterprise to do away with rent control all across the United States of America. It was planned as a premeditated crime against the working people of America and should be investigated as a Rico Act crime. Politicians, landlords, bankers, builders and investors, all conspired to do away with rent control in order to institute radical rent inflation and radical mortgage inflation. All, to bail out the rich as they lose in markets else where. Bankers had no right to raise the amount that they could take from a two income family, to 50% but they bought off the politicians and the politicians joined in the screwing of the American working class in the rent check. Mamdani is screwing New York workers.
